Mettere la borsa di tela, le scarpe di tela, e dimenticare l'ombrello - perchè oggi si può. Chissà quanto durerà. Preparare una pasta fredda con i pomodorini e il basilico del mio balcone (i profumi di casa, che si confondono con quelli di fiori che non conosco, e con un vago sentore di frites lontano), da mangiare seduti in terrazza. Bagnati per una volta non dalla pioggia, ma da questa luce bianca che non abbandona il cielo belga (quando c'è sole) prima delle dieci di sera. Una cucchiaiata di gelato, e una di fragole con panna. Stringersi forte la camicia di jeans, quella troppo grande, di quando lui era piccolo, quando la brezza lascia il posto al vento che riporterà nuvole cariche di tuoni.
L'estate in Belgio fa ordine nelle priorità della vita. Da mordere in fretta, succhiandone il midollo (come diceva Thureau in Walden). Perchè tutto è così effimero.
EN. Feeling the sun on my bare legs. Drinking a glass of lemon balm iced tea, with just a hint of honey. Sporting a canvas bag, canvas shoes, and forgetting the umbrella - because right now you can. Who knows how long this bliss will last? Prepare a pasta salad with cherry tomatoes and basil from my balcony (the scents of home, mingling with those of flowers whose names I ignore, and with a far-away hint of frites), to eat on the balcony. For once not soaked from rain, but from this white light that does not abandon the Belgian sky (when there is sun) before ten o'clock in the evening. A spoonful of ice cream, and strawberries with cream. Hold tight the jeans shirt, the way-too-large one, his when he was little, when the breeze gives way to the wind that will bring back the thunder clouds.
Summer in Belgium makes order in the priorities of life. To be bitten quickly, sucking the marrow (as said in Walden Thureau). Because everything is so ephemeral.
