Bruxelles, ma belle

EN. I think I mentioned this already here, but when I come back to Belgium after a few days spent at home, where home means mamma-papà-Padova-caffé Carlotta-0km ice cream-Federica-grandparents I bask for a few days in foul moods. I miss the streets I used to know, the way my old patterns used to fit me so well. But I've said this already.

Thank you, Brussels, to have taken the time to remind me some of the reasons that pushed me to go and live 1110 km up north.
I very much hope that these pictures may make you want to discover the tiny streets, the amazing secret beauties of this city. To make you want to try on your own skin the crazy weather that turns from summer to winter and from winter to autumn, and from autumn to spring, in like one hour. Or to just turn off the PC and run outside with a cheap camera and in mind just one thing: live.

IT. E' una vecchia storia, e ne ho già parlato qui, ma quando torno in Belgio dopo alcuni giorni trascorsi a casa, dove casa significa mamma-papà-Padova-caffé Carlotta-gelati a km 0-Federica-nonni mi crogiolo per alcuni giorni in stati d'animo cosi' depressi da essere imbarazzanti. Mi mancano le strade che conoscevo, il modo in cui la mia vecchia routine si adattava così bene alla mia esigenza di ordine e, ammettiamolo, rigidità. Ma ne ho già discusso nei dettagli.
Grazie, Bruxelles, di aver preso il tempo di ricordarmi alcuni dei motivi che mi hanno spinta ad andare a vivere 1110 km a nord.

Spero vivamente che queste immagini possano farvi venir voglia di scoprire i vicoli e le bellezze segrete di questa città. Che vi facciano venir voglia di provare sulla vostra pelle il tempo pazzo che passa dall'estate all'inverno e dall'inverno all'autunno, e dall'autunno alla primavera, in un'ora. O di correre fuori per accendere il PC con in tasca una macchina fotografica a buon mercato e in mente solo una cosa: vivere.

Home cocooning - Dille&Kamille

Sunday strolls under light snowfalls to the stands of the marché aux puces at Place du Jeu de Balle, afternoons spent browsing through books in more or less pitiful conditions at  Pêle Mêle , a second-hand book shop very well known here in Brussels. Tiring back-and-forth trips to Ikea, and evenings spent between a box to empty and the other. This is how exciting my life has been in the last few weeks, once again far away from the eccentricity and glam of the fashion weeks. Dutch brand Dille & Kamille was, then, a lovely discovery, a much needed dose of pretty in my life. This zen-chic shop can be found in a side way of Brussels' fashion street Avenue Louise. Branchée, delicate music, the perfume of spices, soap, candy and fresh flowers. Floors of white wood that crackle at each step. A cup of the tea of the day. And a basket that is filled with delights for the home.
What is there not to love?

IT. Tra una passeggiata domenicale sotto una lieve nevicata alle bancarelle del marché aux puces di Place du Jeu de Balle, tra un pomeriggio passato a sfogliare volumi in condizioni più o meno pietose al Pêle Mêle, un negozio di libri di seconda mano molto conosciuto qui a Bruxelles. Tra viaggi della speranza da Ikea, e tra uno scatolone da svuotare e l'altro. E' cosi' che si é svolta la mia vita nelle ultime settimane; ancora una volta, distante dallo sfarzo eccentrico delle fashion weeks. E' stato quindi con piacere che ho scoperto il brand olandese Dille&Kamille (purtroppo non presente in Italia) ed il suo negozio zen-country-chich in una laterale della fashionissima Avenue Louise. Musica delicata ma branchée, profumo di spezie, di saponi, di caramelle e di fiori freschi. Pavimenti di candido legno che rumoreggia ad ogni passo. Una tazza del tè del giorno. E un cestino che si riempie di delizie per la casa.
