Voile and Polka dots

EN. There are people in the world, too sensitive for their own good. Whose whole being is often shaken from top to bottom, discombobulated, as the few and pale cherry blossoms in the violent storms that are hitting Belgium, victim of a winter that still does not want to leave. And what remains of these flowers is nothing but a handful of petals scattered on the lawn. Useless and empty, only able to elicit sadness in the observer, aware of what these pale remnants, the ruins of fallen glories, once were or could have been.
Defy the rain, and the violent gusts of wind, if you feel your soul is much closer to that of a cherry blossom than you would have wanted to, or that you would have thought.
Sooner or later, after the uncertainties of spring, summer comes.

IT.

Home cocooning - Dille&Kamille

Sunday strolls under light snowfalls to the stands of the marché aux puces at Place du Jeu de Balle, afternoons spent browsing through books in more or less pitiful conditions at  Pêle Mêle , a second-hand book shop very well known here in Brussels. Tiring back-and-forth trips to Ikeaand evenings spent between a box to empty and the otherThis is how exciting my life has been in the last few weeksonce again far away from the eccentricity and glam of the fashion weeksDutch brand Dille & Kamille was, then, a lovely discovery, a much needed dose of pretty in my life. This zen-chic shop can be found in a side way of Brussels' fashion street Avenue Louise. Branchée, delicate music, the perfume of spices, soap, candy and fresh flowers. Floors of white wood that crackle at each step. A cup of the tea of the day. And a basket that is filled with delights for the home.
What is there not to love?

IT.

Surviving the cold - Beauty Favourites

Fermatevi.
Vogliatevi bene. E' l'arma migliore, in qualsiasi battaglia.

EN. Stop. Fix yourself a cup of tea, of that  very special blend, a bit spicy, perhaps, or with soft floral notes. Sit back and surrender to the embrace of a blanket. Let the fragrance of the tea intoxicate you for a while ', and forget the world, forget of all those things to you have to do, of the phone that is ringing, or of the doorbell that rings like it went crazy. Think of yourself, and yourself alone, for a moment. When was the last time you really took care of you? Not to go out with someone, not to be perfect for that work meeting. For yourself. A hot bath with lots of bubbles, sparkling water and scented bubble baths that you have taken the time and the pleasure to choose carefully. A nourishing hair-mask, a thin layer of cream on your face. That song that speaks to you, which makes your heartstrings play. One or two coats of your favourite nail polish of the moment, and that others do not understand. Warm soft, clothes, that give you that confidence entirely different from that of a pair of heels. Rest assured that you are beautiful as you are, simply because you are you.
Love yourself. That's the best weapon in any battle.

Autumn Child

EN. Skirts get longer, heads get covered. Gloves can already be spotted, as can be the first cheeks made rosy by the wind of the season. We cover up with wool, feathers and cachemire. It's fall going to winter, silhouettes growing softer and fabrics copying the shades of the trees that look as if they were on fire. Colours and patterns that had been forgotten and deprecated now are back in our closets, to dress us with warm allures of the past. Ethereal shades remind us that winter must be faced with delicacy. That camel coat bought last year, the cream-coloured scarf knitted by a lovely grandmother. An asymmetric-cut pull hugging our form, a warm cocoon that will keep us safe and warm until spring; this is the delicate art of cocooning. These are the autumn and winter that I feel closer to me, far from the maddening sight of stars and snake prints; the kind of autumn that picks a walk in the woods over a streaming video of the fashion week. A slice of cake and a hot tea in my favourite salon de thé, maybe with a book that speaks to my soul and some music played on an old record player over the umpteenth pretentious defilé on shopping street to the rhythm of some commercial pop music. Call me old school, but I may only be a vintage soul.
