There is real beauty at Lyme ♥ Lyme Regis

The Cobb a Lyme Regis é entrato di diritto nei miei luoghi del cuore. Si é fatto strada tra forti venti e onde violente. Tra spruzzi di acqua salata e sole abbagliante. Tra passeggiate a caccia di fossili (Lyme é nota come gioiello della Jurassic Coast) e le nuvole disegnate dal latte in una tazza di té. Tra le pagine di The French Lieutenant Woman e di Persuasion. Ogni ciottolo, ogni granello di sabbia e goccia di acqua é diventato un tassello del dipinto che era già cosi' vivo nella mia immaginazione.

E' un lunedi' mattina grigio e inclemente, qui a Bruxelles. E io ho bisogno di continuare a sognare.

EN. The Cobb at Lyme Regis has rightfully made its way among the places that speak to my heart. It had to work his way up through strong winds and violent waves. Between splashes of salty water and blinding sunlight . Between walks along the pebbles beach, hunting for fossils (Lyme is known as the jewel of the Jurassic Coast) and the clouds drawn by the milk in a cup of tea. Between the pages of The French Lieutenant's Woman and Persuasion. Every cobblestone, every grain of sand and drop of water has become a piece of the painting that was already so vivid in my imagination.
It's a gray and inclement Monday morning here in Brussels. And I need to keep on dreaming.

The illusion of spring

EN. Spring, here, is something ephemeral. That does not last long, the teacher explained while reading the Little Prince , many, many years ago. When French was still the language of nursery rhymes learned in school, the magic trick to get more candy from my granny, and the thousand Lire note from my grandfather. The right price for a portion of a poem by Théophile Gautier learned by heart with difficulty, and performed with all the seriousness and the most solemn tone than a child of eight years is able to use. When spring, the Italian one, was a certainty, a sweet prelude to the summer holidays.
The Belgian spring is, for now, on a stand-by: the sky is gray again, the wind is cold again. Again, I want chocolate and hot tea, when a few days ago I was enjoying a delicate smoothie sitting on the large asymmetrical stairways of the European Commission
And I find myself looking with new eyes at the value of every moment, which, as every Belgian rare sunny morning, must not be lived with uncertainty, but fully. Until make even the fleeting paradoxically everlasting.

La primavera, quassù, è qualcosa di effimero. Che dura poco, come mi spiegò la maestra leggendo il Picolo Principe tanti, tanti anni fa. Quando ancora il francese era la lingua delle filastrocche imparate a scuola, il trucco magico per farsi dare quella caramella in più dalla nonna, e quelle mille Lire dal nonno. Il giusto prezzo per una porzione di una poesia di Théophile Gautier imparata a memoria a fatica, e recitata con tutta la serietà ed il tono più solenne che una bambina di otto anni sappia usare. E quando la primavera, quella italiana, era una certezza; un dolce preludio alle vacanze d'estate.

La primavera belga, per il momento, è in stand-by; il cielo è di nuovo grigio, il vento è di nuovo freddo. Ho di nuovo voglia di cioccolata e té caldo, quando qualche giorno fa mi godevo uno smoothie delicato seduta sulle grandi scalinate assimmetriche della Commissione Europea.

E mi trovo così a scoprire il valore di ogni momento, che, come ogni rara mattinata di sole belga, non deve essere vissuto con incertezza, ma appieno. Fino a rendere perfino l'effimero paradossalmente duraturo.

First beams of spring ♥ Armani vintage blazer and flower oxfords

EN. I want warm days, days that smell like flowers and rain water drying in the sunlight, and of woods and forests and earth; I want spring days, and that soft, warm shade of sunlight that I cannot seem to find here in Brussels. Here light is always so bright, so revealing; maybe because when the sun manages to break through the wall of clouds it feels it's its duty to shine at his brightest. To make you remember how the warmth of light feels on your cheeks. And tell you that you have not been forgotten, and that even though hidden by the thick layers of fog it has never quite abandoned you.

Belgium has welcolmed spring with actual sun beams, and even though they still don't last a whole day, I could not be happier. Especially when they colour the world in a light shade of apricot pink.

Voglio giorni caldi, giorni che profumino di fiori e di acqua piovana che asciuga al sole, e di boschi, e di terra; voglio giornate di primavera, e quella tonalità morbida, calda della luce del sole che qui a Bruxelles non riesco a trovare. Qui la luce è sempre così luminosa, così rivelatrice, forse perché quando il sole riesce a sfondare il muro di nuvole si sente in dovere di brillare al massimo delle sue capacità. Per farti ricordare come il calore della luce si faccia sentire sulle tue guance. E per dirti che non sei stato dimenticato, e che, anche se nascosto dai spessi strati di nebbia, non ti ha mai veramente abbandonato.
Il Belgio ha salutato la primavera con raggi di sole veri, e anche se ancora non durano un giorno intero, non potrei essere più felice. Specialmente quando colorano il mondo in un dolce rosa albicocca.

Bagles on a friday

.I had a lunch date with my former course-mates and le boyfriend yesterday. We went to this lovely place called Bagel Store right in front of Gare de Luxembourg in Brussels, as they mostly work in that area. The weather was lovely, chilly but surprisingly sunny, a perfect autumn day. I had my usual, my beloved Salmon & Cream Cheese bagel with caramelized onion. Just so, so so good. We did not take any relevant pictures as we were busy catching up after almost one year not seeing each other (I left for Paris and Italy etc). It was lovely, and I am so happy that we finally got back together! Now I hope more and more exciting adventures are in store for us-starting with lovely Tahnee's Halloween party, which sounds like some serious FUN.
.While coming home we took the chance to take a few pictures of my outfit. The sunset was just amah-zing, with a darling view of Beersel's castle.
.I am jumping at every chance of rocking this Primark skirt. It is just so perfect, goes with practically everything (liar liar liar) and keeps my legs warm, which makes wearing skirts in autumn/winter bearable even for ME. It was definitely one of the best buys of last summer!
.I'll be saying hello to Steven (Spielberg) at the Tintin world's première tonight at the UGC DeBrouckère in Brussels. Just like some other 50K crazed fans I guess. Or at least that's the plan. I thought of wearing something outrageous so I get noticed, tell the guys guarding the place "Don't you know who I am?" I just went out for a burger, let me in". Obviously Quentin plays my bodyguard and has an earpiece.

.All'origine fu Urban Outfitters. Niente di che, ho aperto la versione francese (oh ciao, spese di spedizione gratis), e mi sono trovata a sbavare su più cose del solito. Essenzialmente scarpe. Perchè? Semplicemente perché io, forte delle idées réçues dagli altri su un'estate Parigina canicola e afa, ho portato a casa tutte le mie "scarpe chiuse". Ho una vasta collezione di sandali, ballerine, e converse di tela, che guardacaso si sposa male con il tempo che vige dal mio ritorno dall'Italia. Voglio dire che piove e sembra di essere in novembre dal 13 di giugno. Improvvisamente i miei vestitini frufru e le mie canottierine leziose sono se non altro fuori luogo.

Oh, stivaletti a 372,00E. Forse oggi no. Ma non sono bellerrimi?

118,00E per queste bottines Melissa invece ci stanno tutti (cerrrto, vi ricordo che sono ancora STAGISTA e SOTTOPAGATA), soprattutto in questo mio momento del bisogno. Però farebbero la loro figura porca (le ho viste su una tizia seduta stamattina sulla 12 ♥♥♥)

Giustamente questi a 12,00E da 85,00 sono disponibili solo in size 5. Ma esisteranno poi figliuole sopra i 12 anni con un 35? (si so che è una domanda retorica) (ciao amiche con il piedino cenerentolino 35, noi con il 40 *coughcough* non ci pensiamo che esistono ancora delle fate in questo mondo)

.Che io sono una fan indefessa di Primark è risaputo (da chi?), quindi non potevo esimermi dal fare urletti striduli da tredicenne al concerto dei Finely (ma che poi le tredicenni li ascoltano ancora i Finely? non sono più così aggiornata come vorrei far credere) alla sneak peak della collezione A/W. Oh guarda caso tra un paio di settimane torno ad abitare in Belgio. Prevedo di trascinare le boyfriend (che ormai ha preso l'andazzo dell'uomo shopper) a Liegi (città che, mi spiace dirlo, non ha nulla da offrire se non quell'immenso centro commerciale con l'unico Primark di Belgio).
