L'Hiver 2012 by #Luc.Duchene - #press day #outfit

EN. Like when April leaves you with notes of vanilla, cinnamon and apple pie.
Like when for protecting yourself from the biting cold of a rainy Belgian morning, not your beloved flannel shirt, nor that leather jacket that had served your mother with honor in the 90s seem to be enough.
Like when the wind plays with your hair -and the result is not always pleasant.
Like when the fashion collection of the winter to come, born from the collaboration of a young talent with a well-established brand, talks to you more than an organza skirt, a lace tank top, a coral pair of sandals or a crown of daisies.
I would like to make it my own, this new collection, right now; embrace the comfort of those sporty-chic trousers, white cashmere knitwear, or the heat of a lovely bold-cut dress in burgundy.
I am still waiting for spring to arrive, and the mild Belgian summer to show up, albeit timidly. But in the meantime, allow me to bask in the embrace of my peach-rose hip infusion, and indulge in the security of a plum-colored nail polish.

Talking with ghosts ♥ Oversize H&M Cardigan and Uniqlo Checkered Shirt

The reading of all good books is indeed
like a conversation with the noblest men of past centuries

.EN It's when everything is quiet, at dusk, that I feel more alive. When my heart beats at the sound of one of
my favourite heroines', and in my hand is a slightly abused copy of one of my most beloved novels. One of those books that make you lose the sense of time and space, want to switch jeans for crinoline. Wish for the Cornwall coasts, or for snowy mountains; a walk in a far away city, the one true love, or even just a shawl, and a loose bun. There is no greater pleasure, to me, than being one with yellowish pages. With the author's thoughts. Or to feel part of the superficial routine of a character, or to sympathise with the depth of another one's sorrows. Whether it be born from the pen of Jane Austen, Stieg Larsson or Jack Kerouac.
Sometimes I think that creatures made of ink speak to me more than people in flesh and bones. But I think it's better off this way.

Dark Blue Primark Cape & Checkered Uniqlo Shirt - I went to the woods

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms [...]." H.D. Thoreau

Senza fronzoli, senza trambusto.

EN. Walden, or Life in the Woods is probably one of the most difficult books that I have ever came across. It 'a long account on the experience that Thoreau decided to live in 1848, leaving luxuries of worldly life and retreating into a small, spartan cottage close to Walden Ponds. It deals with themes such as economics, he draws up lists of his expenses, talks about the maintenance of the cottage ... it is definitely not a novel, let alone a book like so many others. Its main postulate is the observation of how one bends and voluntary enslaves onself by conforming completely to the traditions and sensibilities of the society in which one lives.
Yet Walden has the ability to fascinate you. To kidnap you. To bewitch you with a powerful start, with phrases destined to become aphorisms that talk to those who have a sensitive heart. "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."This opening, which I know by heart, has become my mantra in the silence of the forests of Flanders, a silence broken only by the sound of my steps and Quentin's, by a flight of birds, or the light noise of a falling leaf. Or the sound of my heart when he passes his arm around my shoulders to keep warm.
This is my way to suck the marrow out of life.
No frills, no fuss.
