Far from the madding crowd ♥ Pied-de-poule Pinafore dress

EN. Once again, I find myself far away from FW's madding crowd.
Surrounded by post-its, my floral-print organizer living a life of its own, making time between a conference call with India and the latest e-blast for the DACH zone, it couldn't really be otherwise.
The catwalks are so far from real life, nowadays. And -dare I say it- from dreams, too.
So here I am. Slightly less hungry for fashion, and slightly more thirsty for life, dreams, and true emotions.

Bianchi.
Buon inizio di settimana a tutti.

Love is a @lazzari dress ♥ In my closet #8

EN. I am loyal to quite a few things, and Jane Austen, as you all know, is one of them. I am of capricious nature, but far from fleeting in my tastes. I love it when things are predictable (though not too much), and I firmly believe that the only surprises allowed should be the positive ones, and with moderation. Clearly. A little as Blair and Breakfast at Tiffany's, I love having my certainties. The certainty that Holly will eventually find Cat, the certainty that the kiss in the rain will always be there, waiting just before the final credits. I'm boring, probably, a downright control freak, for sure, but I find the fluid flow of events reassuring.
That's one of the reasons why I love Lazzari (which I have already praised shamelessly here): the certainty of never being disappointed. Being able to foresee that, twice a year, as soon as their collection is out, I will not be able to help myself from expressing my admiration. Or from letting out languishing sighs every time that beneath my feet are the cobblestone roads of Padua, and my eyes fall on the windows of the shop in Via Roma.
And with a triumphant smile these clothes have made their way into my suitcase, and have made their way into my daily Brussels life.

Love for Lazzari SS 2012 ♥ part 1

EN. One day, long ago, back when I lived in Padua and thought that, after all, the city had nothing to offer to me anymore, I've come across the store of Veronese brand Lazzari. Attracted by its pastel-colored windows, its simple yet quirky clothing, and prints that were all but a been-there-done-that, I came closer. The interior was the one of the house of my dreams: white parquet, shabby-chic furniture and well-arranged racks of stunning dresses. With my nose almost glued to the window, without having the courage to step in –I was still my old rebel-on-the-outside me, Vans, T-shirts and jeans that had seen better days– I remember I tried to burn both the name and the location of the store in my head. As good things, as we all know, are those that dissolve in the air without reason and without a farewell.
And here I am, a few years later, still shouting from the rooftops of my love for this family-run brand, born from simple values and a delicate and refined sensitivity, such as that of a song by She & Him.

H&M oversize sweater - When the heath dies down

I Joy Division.

EN. It has finally arrived. After an autumn that has been more than mild, an Indian summer that granted us a few more days of sweet warmth, the cold has arrived. Cheeks reddened by the wind, cold hands in his pockets. A large scarf, his jacket, a sweater big enough to hug me. Because when the temperatures go down, one gives up willingly that dress one loves so much, or those pretty ballet flats. Ginger biscuits, jasmine tea. A

vanilla-scented candle, and some of my favorite music. Harry McVeigh and his deep, low voice, Johnny Cash. Joy Division. My caramelized apples cake in the oven, and Quentin's mother pumpkin cream soup with croutons. Skype with my mom and my dad. This will be my Sunday, surrounded by the warmth of the people who love me. And the Sunday that I wish to you.

A piccole dosi, chiaramente.

EN. It is when everything is wrapped in the soft breath of the brisk breezewhen temperatures fall, when the days get shorter and the evening sky is tinged with purple hues that Brussels gives the best of itself. Fiery sunrises that make you dream of a day of pale sunshine, resulting instead in rather damp, gray, rainy days. Even the rain has a special charm in the fall and winter of Brussels. In small doses, of course. But the real people of Brussels know how to enjoy life. They know the value of walking holding hands in the Parc de Bruxelles in the timid rays of afternoon sun. They understand the complicity of sharing a very long scarf, or a very small umbrella. They know the the best places to take shelter on the long rainy afternoons. The girls of Brussels know that going out with a dress on a rainy day can make you feel a rebel (who said you have to dress for the weather?), or that wearing a skirt in a sunny day is a small celebration, a silent thanks to this autmn, the milder and nicer autumn in years. Since I have become a bit a girl of Brussels myself, I have been
initiated to the secret little pleasures of life in Belgium. And I could never do without them, now.

A draught of sunshine (John Keats)

.I've taken these pictures the day before Quentin went back to Belgium. It was still super hot, and I find myself missing and craving already the feeling of the burning sun on my back! I wish it would be September all year round. There is nothing better than basking in the sun without burning or melting, just making the most of the sun rays while taking long walks (or bicycle rides, a pleasure we just recently re-discovered!) in the countryside. I understand why most of Italians were so relieved when the temperatures fell (not that they are not complaining already about the cold...), with the heath wave being so long and all, but honestly (selfishly) I couldn't have cared less. 30 degrees make me happy. Always.
.Yes, those shoes and that bag again. On the one hand it's because I obviously don't travel with my whole wardrobe with me, but on the other hand, those shoes are just so comfy and cute, and that bag practically goes with everything! Besides, here's my lovely little Casio in action. Took me a while to figure how to get the settings right, but that's probably cos I'm dumb (and I was watching Dawson's Creek while doing it, ehm.). I've been asking everyone to ask me what time it is, such a show off.
.I had promised myself that after my E.L.F. and my Bottega Verde shopping sprees I would stop buying make up for a while (let's say, a couple of years?). That's why I just got myself some brand new Kiko goodies. I'm a sucker for special offers and discounts.
.I am totally engrossed with the book on English literature I was offered. I re-discovered my love for Shelley, Coleridge, Wordsworth and obviously the misters Keats and Byron. I was certainly born in the wrong century (tho I don't know how long I would have lasted without Ibuprofene and Paracetamol...). Here's one of my favorite Keats poems; hope it touches you as much as it touches me.

A draught of sunshine

Hence Burgundy, Claret, and Port,

Away with old Hock and madeira,
Too earthly ye are for my sport;
There's a beverage brighter and clearer.
Instead of a piriful rummer,
My wine overbrims a whole summer;
My bowl is the sky,
And I drink at my eye,
Till I feel in the brain
A Delphian pain -
Then follow, my Caius! then follow:
On the green of the hill
We will drink our fill
Of golden sunshine,
Till our brains intertwine
With the glory and grace of Apollo!
God of the Meridian,
And of the East and West,
To thee my soul is flown,
And my body is earthward press'd. -
It is an awful mission,
A terrible division;
And leaves a gulph austere
To be fill'd with worldly fear.
Aye, when the soul is fled
To high above our head,
Affrighted do we gaze
After its airy maze,
As doth a mother wild,
When her young infant child
Is in an eagle's claws -
And is not this the cause
Of madness? - God of Song,
Thou bearest me along
Through sights I scarce can bear:
O let me, let me share
With the hot lyre and thee,
The staid Philosophy.
Temper my lonely hours,
And let me see thy bowers
More unalarm'd!
